As this website is the result of a project for an oral history class at Clarkson University in Northern New York (learn more about it in the "About my project" tab!), oral history played the most crucial role in uncovering the past and learning more about psychiatry in Northern New York. Through a series of interviews (more to come!), it became clear to me that the north country community has been, and still is, greatly impacted by the Psychiatric services offered in the area. For this reason, I hope to continue to use oral history as a tool for creating a more concrete understanding of the symbiosis between service and community. Visit the links under the "Oral History" tab to learn more about my experiences with oral history throughout this project, and check back regularly, as I plan on adding more interviews!
